About Me

Ben grew up over the road from the iconic Makorori Beach on New Zealand’s east coast, it’s no wonder the ocean plays a strong hand in his work.

Ben’s distinctive textural style has graced everything from wine labels to kid’s picture books, surf-wear and interactive websites. Using water colours, oil paints, lino cuts, found objects and photography, Ben digitally pieces it all together while retaining a sense of whimsy and hand-made craftsmanship.

Ben has a Bachelor of Design from Massey University, Wellington. He has illustrated several children’s books including The Three Fishing Brothers Gruff - Best first book at the New Zealand Post Children's book awards and Fandango Stew - Exhibited at the Society of Illustrators Art Show, New York.

Ben is currently based in London.
